    The Hakushu distillery is part of the Suntory Group, founded by Shinjiro Torii in 1899, a pioneer in the Japanese whisky industry. Today, Suntory is run by the Torii family, who continue to promote heritage and innovation. The current owners are committed to preserving tradition while exploring new avenues to enrich the whisky experience. Their passion for respecting nature and craftsmanship is reflected in every bottle produced at Hakushu.

    Vinification and aging

    The creation of Hakushu Distillers' Reserve begins with the meticulous selection of ingredients. Pure spring water, sourced from the surrounding mountains, is essential for distillation. The grains are fermented with specific yeasts, which impart unique aromas to the final product. Distillation takes place in copper pot stills, allowing for the capture of the most delicate essences. The whisky is then aged in oak casks, some of which previously held bourbon or sherry, adding complex nuances. This aging process at altitude, in a natural environment, gives Hakushu Distillers' Reserve its distinctive character.
