The vineyard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte is rooted in clay-limestone soil, ideal for growing noble grape varieties. Today, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is run by the Cathiard family, passionate about the art of winemaking. Their vision is to create wines that tell a story, that of their terroir and their passion. Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Smith Haut Lafitte The winemaking process is carried out with the utmost care. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. The wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. This traditional method, combined with innovation, preserves the wine's identity while imparting complexity and elegance. Each step is carefully considered to enhance the grapes' full potential.
