The vineyard of Château Smith Haut Lafitte is rooted in clay-limestone soil, ideal for growing noble grape varieties. The vines, aged 30 to 60 years, benefit from a climat The temperate oceanic climate promotes slow and even ripening of the grapes. Biodynamic viticultural practices enhance the health of the soil and vines, resulting in high-quality grapes. Each plot is carefully cultivated to express the unique character of the terroir, guaranteeing authentic wines that truly reflect their origin.

Owner and history

Today, the Château Smith Haut Lafitte is run by the Cathiard family, passionate about the art of winemaking. Their commitment to the land and respect for the environment is reflected in every bottle produced. They have breathed new life into the domaine, by combining Bordeaux tradition and modern practices. Their vision is to create wines that tell a story, that of their terroir and their passion. Thanks to their efforts, the domaine is recognized not only for the quality of its wines, but also for its responsible and sustainable approach.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Smith Haut Lafitte The winemaking process is carried out with the utmost care. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. The wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months, depending on the vintage. This traditional method, combined with innovation, preserves the wine's identity while imparting complexity and elegance. Each step is carefully considered to enhance the grapes' full potential.
