The Volnay vineyards, where this wine is produced, are situated on clay-limestone soils rich in pebbles, offering excellent drainage and promoting optimal ripening of the Pinot Noir grapes. The moderate altitude and ideal exposure of the vines allow for the production of wines of great finesse, renowned for their elegance and ethereal structure. Domaine Joseph Drouhin cultivates its plots with care, favoring biodynamic practices, thus guaranteeing a pure expression of the terroir and a beautiful freshness in its wines.

Vinification and aging

The 2019 Joseph Drouhin Volnay benefits from meticulous winemaking, respecting Burgundian traditions. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 14 to 18 months, with 20% new oak, imparting a subtle oak influence and beautiful aromatic complexity. This careful aging process refines the tannins and gives this exceptional Volnay a velvety texture.
