Description

Domaine JA Ferret is a historic estate located in Fuissé, in the heart of the Mâconnais region of southern Burgundy. Acquired by Maison Louis Jadot in 2008, this estate meticulously cultivates the finest terroirs of Pouilly-Fuissé, notably the " Les Perrières " vineyard, recently promoted to Premier Cru status. Renowned for its precision and elegance, each JA Ferret cuvée reflects the geological diversity of the region's limestone soils. The 2020 Premier Cru Les Perrières Blanc perfectly embodies this philosophy: a structured, refined white wine that showcases the Chardonnay grape in its purest expression.

Tasting notes

With its pale yellow robe and brilliant highlights, this Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru reveals elegant notes of white flowers, ripe lemon, and flint on the nose. On the palate, the attack is lively, supported by a beautiful mineral tension, while the ample structure expresses aromas of white-fleshed fruit and fresh almond. The finish is long, persistent, and saline, underscoring the complexity of this great white Burgundy.

The vines of Domaine JA Ferret stretch across southeast-facing clay-limestone slopes in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The "Les Perrières" vineyard rests on a subsoil rich in hard limestone, giving the wine a remarkable mineral tension. The Chardonnay vines are carefully cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, allowing the terroir to express itself with finesse and consistency. This exceptional soil is the key to the crystalline character of the Les Perrières cuvée.

Owner and history

Since its acquisition in 2008 by Maison Louis Jadot, Domaine JA Ferret has benefited from expert support to enhance its viticultural heritage. Under the oenological direction of Frédéric Barnier, the teams work with precision and passion to express the unique character of the Pouilly-Fuissé terroirs. The objective is clear: to reveal the elegance of Burgundian Chardonnay with sincerity, while establishing the estate within a sustainable framework, faithful to the legacy of Jeanne Ferret, its founding figure.

Vinification and aging

At Domaine JA Ferret, winemaking prioritizes the purity of the fruit and the authenticity of the terroir. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, with moderate use of new oak, to respect the natural balance of the wine.
The 1er Cru Les Perrières 2020 benefits from aging on fine lees for 10 months, partly in barrels, partly in stainless steel tanks, to preserve freshness, while developing a beautiful substance and a silky texture.
