Description

THE Clos of the Lambrays is often described as a "real" Grand Cru de Morey, stylistically situated between the structural power of the Clos of Tart and the absolute finesse of Clos de la Roche. Under the impetus of Jacques Devauges (director of the domaine), the precision of the individual plots has been further accentuated, offering wines of crystalline purity.
THE Clos of the Lambrays 2024 is proving to be a vintage year intensely fragrant, with a most seductive sensation of fullness and fruit ripeness. On the palate, the wines are graceful and supple They offer finesse, elegance and remarkable purity.

Located north of the Côte de Nuits, THE Domaine of the Lambrays spans nearly 20 hectares, including one of Burgundy's most iconic Grands Crus: the Clos of the Lambrays, an almost-monopole.

Owner and history

Clos Established by Cistercian monks in 1365, this 8.66-hectare vineyard, all in one piece, forms the heart of the domaine, patiently reconstructed after the fragmentation of the French Revolution. Under the impetus of Jacques Devauges, the domaine has entered a phase of extreme rigor, combining historical vision with meticulous, plot-by-plot work. Organic farming is now a structural commitment, and starting with the 2024 vintage, La Richemone will also begin its certified conversion. What makes the Clos of the Lambrays What's so fascinating is that it's never treated as a monolithic block. Its gentle slope, varied exposures, and diverse soils (marl upstream, clay and limestone downstream) form a carefully assembled mosaic. This philosophy takes on its full meaning in 2024: a demanding vintage with low yields that rewarded precision in the vineyard and restraint during extraction. The result offers that tension and serene complexity that only a perfectly understood terroir can deliver.

Vinification and aging

Vineyard
This 8.66-hectare terroir is distinguished by its vines planted perpendicular to the slope, a unique configuration on the Côte which guarantees freshness and natural balance.
Viticulture
Certified organic (2019) and biodynamic (2020), the domaine preserves a rare heritage of very vieilles vignes (70% planted between 1898 and 1935), a true genetic treasure of fine Pinot Noirs.
Winemaking and aging
Made using gravity flow with 80% whole cluster fermentation, the wine is aged for 16 months in oak barrels (60% new). Bottling is scheduled for April 7th and 8th, 2026.
