    Description

Located in the heart of the Taravo Valley in Southern Corsica, Domaine Comte Abbatucci is among the island's most iconic estates. Run with remarkable dedication by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, the estate distinguishes itself through its philosophy deeply rooted in biodynamic practices and the preservation of indigenous Corsican grape varieties. Perched high above the valley, it benefits from granitic soils and a Mediterranean climate with mountain influences, giving its wines a strong and unique identity. Alte Rosso 2023, although white, perfectly embodies this quest for purity, balance, and respect for nature—the hallmarks of the estate.

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

In the glass, Alte Rosso 2023 reveals a pale gold color with silvery highlights. The nose opens with delicate floral notes, mingled with aromas of citrus, maquis shrubland, and a subtle touch of salinity. The palate, lively and crystalline, reveals a beautiful mineral tension and a refined structure. The finish, remarkably persistent, evokes sea spray and aromatic Corsican herbs, prolonging a sensation of intense freshness.

    Food & wine pairings

A perfect accompaniment to grilled sea bass fillet, sea bream tartare or Corsican sheep's cheeses.

The Domaine Comte Abbatucci vineyard lies on granite slopes swept by the winds of the maquis and sea breezes. Planted at an altitude of approximately 100 to 200 meters, the vines are cultivated without chemical inputs, with a focus on respecting the soil and its natural balance. This biodynamic approach, a pioneer in Corsica, allows the wines to express the purity of the terroir and the energy of life, particularly in this limited-production cuvée with its unique profile.

    Owner and history

Jean-Charles Abbatucci, heir to a prestigious lineage and a visionary winemaker, has breathed a unique soul into this Corsican estate. A staunch defender of the island's ancient grape varieties, he has rescued an exceptional ampelographic heritage from oblivion, which is now at the heart of his wines. His commitment to biodynamics, his rigor, and his passion shine through in every wine from the estate, of which Alte Rosso 2023 embodies the purest spirit, a blend of tradition and modernity.

    Vinification and aging

The winemaking at the estate follows biodynamic principles: manual harvesting, gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
Alte Rosso 2023 is vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the expression of the fruit and aged on fine lees for several months, without wood, in order to preserve its freshness, aromatic purity and mineral tension.
