The Petrus vineyard rests on a unique clay soil, which gives the wine its richness and structure. The vines, some several decades old, benefit from a microclimate ideal for optimal grape ripening. Cultivation is carried out with care and attention, each vine being treated as a treasure. The deep roots of the vines anchor themselves in this exceptional terroir, allowing for an authentic expression of aromas. The estate is committed to respecting the environment while preserving winemaking traditions, thus guaranteeing high-quality harvests.

Owner and history

Today, Château Petrus is managed by the Moueix family, who have preserved the estate's heritage and reputation. Passionate about their craft, they strive to continue producing exceptional wines while respecting Petrus's unique identity. Their commitment to excellence and respect for the terroir is evident in every bottle, reflecting a long-term vision that blends tradition and innovation.

Vinification and aging

The winemaking process at Petrus is meticulous, where each step is carefully considered to enhance the fruit. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of tannins. Aging, lasting approximately 18 months, occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and subtlety. This time-honored expertise, combined with a modern approach, ensures the creation of wines of unparalleled depth.
