Vinification and aging

The winemaking process at Petrus is meticulous, where each step is carefully considered to enhance the fruit. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously sorted. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of tannins. Aging, lasting approximately 18 months, occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and subtlety. This time-honored expertise, combined with a modern approach, ensures the creation of wines of unparalleled depth.
