The Château Lagrange vineyard stretches across gravelly and pebbly soils, typical of the Saint-Julien appellation. This unique terroir, combined with a temperate oceanic climate, allows the grape varieties to fully flourish, yielding exceptionally high-quality grapes. The average age of the vines, over 30 years, contributes to the concentration of aromas and the complexity of the wines. The careful management of the vineyard, focused on soil health and biodiversity, reflects the estate's commitment to sustainable viticulture.

    Owner and history

Currently, Château Lagrange belongs to the Takeda Group, which acquired the estate in 1983. Under their management, Lagrange has experienced a renaissance, blending tradition with modern innovation. The owners have implemented a more environmentally conscious approach, integrating sustainable practices into viticulture and winemaking. Their passion for wine and the terroir is reflected in every bottle, making Château Lagrange a key player in the Saint-Julien appellation.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Lagrange is a meticulous process that begins with the hand-harvesting of the grapes, ensuring their integrity. The grapes are then carefully sorted before being vinified separately according to their varietal. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature management. After fermentation, the wines are aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for approximately 18 months. This aging process imparts aromatic complexity and structure to the wine, while respecting the identity of the terroir.
