History of the Estate Château Duhart-Milon

        the story of Château Duhart-Milon

        A Succession of Illustrious Owners

        The Rothschild family

Sieur Duhart, a privateer by profession, settled in Pauillac in the Gironde region during the reign of Louis XV. His property was vast and situated on a hillside in the village of Milon. Vines were only cultivated there very late. In the 18th century, the property was located on theLafite lordshipThese are unbreakable ties that are thus forged with the famous Château. Mathieu Mandavy, mayor of the town under the First Republic, manages the vineyard attached to theChâteau Duhart-Milon, which at the time was called "Domaine Mandavy-Milon".

In the 19th century, the estate underwent numerous divisions. The influential Casteja family acquired the vineyard and gave it the name it bears today: a tribute to the original owner and the location of the vines. In the early 1960s, the Château was sold to the companyDomaines Barons de RothschildSince that date, the Château's teams have been modernizing techniques and working to increase its reputation.Duhart-Milon.
