the story of Domaine Rémi Jobard

    The history of the estate

    A family story

In 1991,Rémi Jobardtook over the family estate in the 1990s. The vineyard covers 2 hectares inRed BurgundyAnd7 in white Burgundyon soil composed of clay and limestone.

The vineyard extends over threePremier Crus:

    • Charms
    • Poruzots
    • Genevrières

And also, someMeursaultsin the places calledThe Narwhals and The KnightsThe white wines produced from these plots, moreover, reach the level of certainPremier Crus!

Pinot Noir, on the other hand, is planted in the appellationMonthélieand on thePremier Cru Volnay-Santenots.The estate produces 50,000 bottles. The wines are made in limited quantities but are sought after for their remarkable expression. Driven by his passion, the winemaker decided to revolutionize the estate's practices. He is committed to producing pure, precise wines, in harmony with nature and the terroir.

    Organic farming

Respect for the land, the heritage and the people

Rémi JobardHe therefore took over the estate and decided to change the way the vineyard was cultivated. A true lover of the land, he began the complete conversion of the land intoorganic farmingIn 1998, he made the decision to stop using herbicides and other chemical treatments. The limestone slopes on which the vines are planted then allowed their unique characteristics to express themselves more fully. The estate began producing inorganicHe obtained his certification in 2005 and in 2011.

The winemaker can also rely on a loyal team of grape harvesters who return every year. The entire harvest of the 9 hectares of vines is done by hand. The workforce is therefore experienced and doesn't hesitate to select the best bunches immediately after picking. The soil is also preserved compared to using a harvesting machine.

Respect for the land, heritage, and people is therefore central to the philosophy ofDomaine Rémi Jobard.

    The style of the wines

    From winemaking to the bottle

Beyondorganic farming,Rémi Jobard lets the winemaking process unfold naturally. He intervenes as little as possible. This allows him to obtain very pure, honest, and precise wines.

The aging process takes place in demi-muids (half-barrels).StockingerLarge containers impart a beautiful structure to the wines without overpowering them with oak. Bottling is done by the estate after 18 months of aging. No filtration is carried out in order to preserve the wines' character.

The reputation of the vintages ofRémi JobardThis is no longer a given. The wines are renowned for their finesse, their breadth, and also their remarkable freshness. The aging potential of the bottles is particularly appreciated.

WithRémi Jobard,It's best not to judge a wine solely by its label. In terms of appellation, all the wines deserve to be upgraded. Indeed, even tasting the village or generic appellations reveals wonderful surprises. This estate, though its production is relatively unknown, is well worth discovering: all the wines are of remarkable quality!
