The Château Branaire-Ducru vineyard covers 60 hectares of deep gravelly soil, typical of Saint-Julien. The vines, averaging 35 years old, are planted in predominantly gravelly soil resting on a clay-limestone subsoil, ensuring optimal drainage and even ripening. The classic Médoc grape varieties allow for beautiful complexity in the blends. Sustainable farming practices guarantee the pure expression of the terroir, with respect for the environment.

    Owner and history

Château Branaire-Ducru has belonged to the Maroteaux family since 1988. The late Patrick Maroteaux profoundly modernized the estate and established an elegant and precise style. Today, his son François continues this commitment to excellence with the same rigor. Dedicated to sustainable viticulture, the family strives to showcase the refined and approachable character of this Grand Cru Classé, combining respect for the terroir with technical innovation in each vintage.

    Vinification and aging

The estate's winemaking relies on natural gravity, without pumping, to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Each plot is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
The 2021 vintage then benefits from aging for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, approximately 60% of which are new. This process reveals the finesse of the fruit while providing a noble structure and remarkable aging potential.
