Listrac-Médoc

It is on the lands of the Listrac-Médoc appellation, composed of the gravelly hills typical of the Médoc and limestone soils, that these great, structured, and powerful wines are produced. Rather robust in their youth, and therefore ideal for early drinking, they also develop a richer character with age. Often compared to the terroir of Moulis in the Médoc, discover the great wines of this noble land in the Cavissima online shop.

The Listrac-Médoc AOC is the smallest in the Médoc . Located just next to Moulis-en-Médoc, it covers 600 hectares of vineyards . It is an appellation exclusively for red wine , whose main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot . Here, they benefit from a subsoil of gravel and clay.

        Château Fourcas Dupré

Château Fourcas Dupré has been managed by the Pagès family since 1970: first by Guy, the father, and since 1985 by Patrice, the son. Significant renovations have been undertaken, and they run the estate with the same philosophy of rigor and passion. Today, 46 hectares of contiguous vineyards are cultivated between Moulis and Saint-Julien. The Château also offers a gîte (holiday cottage) for rent.

The Château's flagship wine was classified as a Premier Cru Bourgeois in 1855, but was reclassified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 1932. It is distinguished by its lovely ruby color and reaches its peak in about ten years: the tannins then soften, giving it a beautiful balance. With age, it develops notes of toast.

The Château also produces Hautes Terres de Fourcas Dupré, a luscious wine with a high proportion of Merlot , best enjoyed young. They also produce Le Blanc and Le Rosé de Fourcas Dupré, rich and full-bodied wines in more limited quantities.
