    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The 2017 Seña displays an intense garnet color with violet highlights. The nose opens with a refined bouquet blending black fruit, fine wood, sweet spices, and a touch of menthol. On the palate, the attack is ample, the texture silky, and the tannins perfectly integrated. The structure is precise and harmonious, supported by a lovely freshness. The finish is long and persistent, underscored by balsamic and dark chocolate notes, promising excellent aging potential.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with a rack of roast lamb, a beef fillet in a crust, or game with grand veneur sauce.

The Seña vineyard is located in the hills of the Aconcagua Valley, 40 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The soil is of volcanic origin, composed of decomposed rock and clay, providing excellent drainage. The vines benefit from the maritime influence, which tempers the intense heat and promotes slow and even ripening. This combination of climate and terroir allows for the expression of pure, structured, and typically Chilean fruit.

    Owner and history

The Seña winery was founded in 1995 by Eduardo Chadwick, heir to a long line of Chilean winemakers, in partnership with Robert Mondavi, a pioneer of Californian wine. Together, they launched Chile's first "iconic wine," intended to rival the world's finest. Today, under the Chadwick family's ownership, the winery continues this vision of excellence with a strong commitment to biodynamic practices, innovation, and respect for the terroir. Seña is now a global icon of Chilean wine.

    Vinification and aging

At Domaine Seña, winemaking is precise and respectful of the fruit, with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks followed by extended maceration. Each grape variety is vinified separately to refine the final blend. The 2017 vintage was then aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (85% new), imparting complexity, texture, and aging potential. This meticulous aging process highlights the wine's finesse without masking the expression of the terroir.
