Tasting notes

The 2019 Les Pagodes de Cos reveals an intense garnet color with purple highlights. The nose opens with aromas of black fruit, cherry, and blackcurrant, enhanced by spicy and slightly woody notes. On the palate, the attack is ample, supported by silky tannins and a lovely freshness. The structure is balanced, with generous body and beautiful depth. The persistent finish leaves an impression of finesse and elegance.

Food & wine pairings

This wine will ideally accompany a rack of roast lamb, a beef fillet with morels or a duck breast with mild spices.

Producer

The Cos d'Estournel vineyard rests on an exceptional terroir of deep gravel mixed with clay, situated on a hillside south of Saint-Estèphe. This complex soil promotes excellent drainage and optimal grape ripeness. The vines, averaging 35 years old for Les Pagodes, are cultivated with care according to the principles of sustainable viticulture. This approach allows the pure expression of the terroir to be revealed, in a constant pursuit of finesse and balance.

Owner and history

Since 2000, Michel Reybier has been at the helm of Château Cos d'Estournel. A businessman with a passion for wine, he has instilled a drive for excellence in the estate by investing in state-of-the-art production facilities while respecting the spirit of the place. His vision is based on innovation in the service of precision, with meticulous attention paid to every step, from vine to bottle. His commitment has elevated the estate to the ranks of the Médoc's leading producers.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Cos d'Estournel relies on modern facilities and highly precise plot-by-plot vinification. Each batch is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
For Les Pagodes de Cos 2019, the wine was aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, a quarter of which were new. This process adds complexity and structure while preserving the freshness of the fruit. The result is a harmonious wine, approachable young but with significant aging potential.
